WRAP, the Waste & Resources Action Programme, has published a report entitled Review of Market Price Information in the UK Recycling Sector.
Deloitte Touche was commissioned to review existing price information sources for glass, plastic, paper and wood recyclate materials and analyse the current and future requirements of market stakeholders.
The aim was to identify potential opportunities to improve the provision of accurate recyclate price information.
Around 50 key public and private sector organisations were surveyed for the report which found existing market price information for the recycling sector was perceived to be of little value; a significant imbalance in price information demand between buyers and sellers of recyclate; and inconsistency of material specification and contractual basis behind quoted prices identified as key issues.
The report, which is available on the WRAP website at www.wrap.org.uk, makes recommendations to improve the scope, accuracy and accessibility of existing price information.
