Rachmat Witoelar was speaking at a press conference where he and his Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull announced a pact to reduce deforestation in southern Asia.

“I want to appeal to the citizens of the whole world to look for the stamp of approval,” said Mr Witoelar.

The Indonesian environment minister added that rich countries should pay developing nations to preserve their forests and is preparing to push for a resolution to this effect at the UN climate change conference scheduled for December.
