The WoodX program is a digital platform that allows the whole wood products sector to process electronic business documents in one generic style and in May was improved to include the panel industry as well as sawmilling and other timber sectors.

“The updated standard supports a versatile product structure and allows broad use throughout the wood products field,” said Marketta Vuorjoki, WoodX working group chair.

“Most are billing and packing list documents in the sawmilling industry, but panel producrs have also given the standard a good reception.”

Paula Pensonen, standardisation expert at the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, told TTJ that the WoodX system was versatile and could be extended to other industries to simplify the process of passing business documents along the supply chain.
