Borders-based Woodschool, Scotland’s centre for contemporary furntiure design and manufacture from sustainable Scottish hardwoods, has won two prizes in this year’s Dynamic Place Awards.

The awards, made by Scottish Enterprise and its partners, recognise leading design, innovation and regeneration projects.

Woodschool won the Sir Robert Grieve award for sustainability and a highly commended award in the “connections’ category.

Dynamic Place Awards judge Rebecca Hughes said: “The Woodschool is an extraordinary project which, in conjunction with the Borders Forest Trust, has single-handedly reinvigorated Scotland’s hardwood industry. It has had a tremendous effect on the Borders economy and is a perfect example of sustainable development in action.”
