The Confederation of Forest Industries (ConFor) has hailed the 2007 South West Woodland Show as a success, with 2,000 visitors attracted to the biennial event.

Lantra, Forest of Avon Products and Equipment Supply Services were among the first-time exhibitors at the 2007 show. A breakfast briefing, which replaced a formal opening ceremony, proved “astonishingly popular”, according to ConFor.

Other highlghts included logging demonstrations and the pre-lunch reception, which ConFor noted provided a number of networking opportunities.

“This was a fantastic day, with everything coming smoothly together,” said Charles Fane Trefusis, chairman of the show committee.

“It is especially satisfying when the mood is so optimistic as the industry really sees some light at the end of the tunnel.”

ConFor will stage the International Forestry Exhibition at Cannock Chase in September 2008, with the South West Woodland Show returning in 2009.
