A £100,000 woodland project at Llandovery, Wales, will bring farming and the community together to help reshape the rural economy and give more access to woods near people’s homes.

The project, financed by Cydcoed-Woods for All, is run by community company the Friends of Henllys and involves the creation of a new woodland.

Existing woods will be improved by thinning and planting, with a woodland interpretation centre and holiday centre built from the thinnings. Other opportunities for making toys and garden forest products are also being investigated.
