Woodfair South West is to stage two events providing young people in Devon with the opportunity to discover more about working with wood.

At the Plymouth Woodfair and Roadford Woodfair firms from across the timber-related industries will demonstrate the scope of jobs and training available within the sector, including sawmilling, forestry, harvesting, whittling and willowing.

The Timber Trade Federation‘s Education, Training and Careers Committee will also be present at the shows through The Doorway brand.

Devon County Council said that as many as 100,000 shoppers could be in Plymouth city centre on March 22, the Saturday of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Plymouth Woodfair is to take place in the city centre on March 22; the Roadford Woodfair will be held at the Cookworthy Forest Centre in Beaworthy on July 12-13.
