A London joinery manufacturer has undertaken one of its most unusual contracts to date – a full-size wooden V2 rocket for an art exhibition in London.
The 47ft plywood and maple veneer rocket, made by Dagenham-based K&D Joinery, was commissioned by artist Paul Fryer for his “Let there be more light” exhibition at All Saint’s Church, Marylebone. According to the Daily Telegraph the work has sold for £175,000.
The rocket was paid for by All Visual Arts, an organisation set up by hedge fund manager Mike Platt and art trader Joe La Placa.
However, it’s not the only unsusal job completed by K&D Joinery – it has also made a timber atom bomb sculpture in the past.
