The IWSc: Wood Technology Society is to hold its official launch event a year after merging with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM³).
The event at the IOM³ offices in London on November 30 includes an afternoon programme of speakers featuring architect Andrew Waugh who will speak on designing with timber.
Other subjects being covered include glulam in commercial developments, timber in packaging, advanced timber composites, commercial strategies for the future and the role of timber in industrial ecology.
The IWSc merged with IOM³ in a move designed to safeguard its operations and help provide a stronger presence and more resources for timber education and personal development.
