A total of 712 delegates attended the Wood Talks series of events in 2010, according to organisers.

The promising response to the six events has led several of the existing partners to want to be involved in the project again, with some “exciting new developments” being looked at for 2011.

The talks, organised in association with The Timber Trade Federation and Wood for Good, are designed to raise the profile of wood in construction to an audience including architects, engineers, specifiers and other construction professionals.

Held at the Building Centre in London, Wood Talks’ highest attendance in 2010 was the final event when 150 delegates were given a presentation on Concepts, Challenges and Solutions.

The second most popular event was Hybrid Structures, sponsored by B&K Structures, which attracted 147 delegates.

“The Wood Talks at the Building Centre have been a timely showcase for a growing confidence in the use of timber structures in our modern civic buildings,” said Roddy Langmuir, director of Edward Cullinan Architects.

B&K and KLH UK have both confirmed they are looking at sponsoring Wood Talks in 2011.
