A one-day workshop investigating the woodfuel market will be held in Lanarkshire on January 17.

The organisers – the Scottish Forestry Industries Cluster, the Forestry Commission and the NIFES Consulting Group on behalf of OPET-Scotland (Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technology) – say it is in response to the increased interest in the use of wood as a fuel in Scotland.

However, they have identified a lack of knowledge among both energy providers and those in the forest industries about the supply chain issues involved.

The workshop is aimed at users of heat and players in the forest heat supply industries and it is hoped to identify ways forward to increase the use of wood as a fuel.
