Natural Building Technologies’ (NBT) Diffutherm wood fibre insulation system has received BBA accreditation for both timber frame and masonry constructions.

NBT Diffutherm has become the first solid, unvented, rendered timber frame solution to receive BBA certification, with NBT citing the product’s breathability as a key factor in its success.

The certification follows extensive testing by the BBA and provides official recognition of the product’s performance.

NBT says the performance, along with cost, speed of build and environmental impact, delivers significant advantages over other rendered timber frame methods.

NBT Diffutherm systems feature 60mm, 80mm or 100mm thick natural wood fibre insulation boards applied over the outside of a masonry substrate or timber frame structure, with an external finish of a mineral-based, breathable render.

In a timber frame system, additional compatible insulation would be installed between the studs and racking board fixed on the inside of the frame.
