Wood Energy Ltd, a UK-based wood fuel heating supplier, received the Renewable Energy award for providing a third of the UK’s wood heat capacity and reducing CO2 emissions from UK businesses by 12,000 tonnes a year.
Nottinghamshire county council came second in the Renewable Energy category for its drive to heat schools across the county with wood pellets instead of coal, leading to CO2 emissions being reduced by 2,400 tonnes.
