Oscar style trophies will debut at this year’s Wood Awards, thanks to design work by two furniture makers in residence at London’s Building Crafts College.
The brief for Jason Muteham and Jonathan Tibbs was to design an iconic trophy which would become a recognisable and familiar symbol for the awards, a celebration of UK architecture and furniture using wood.
The prism-shaped trophies are being made by wood sculptor Ray Winder, who also makes the TTJ Awards trophies, using American hard maple provided by Rossi American Hardwoods and The American Hardwood Export Council.
