The Wood Awards, the annual competition showcasing timber in construction, joinery and furniture, is now open for entries.

The competition is open to anyone associated with a project – from timber supplier to designer (with permission from the owner). Projects must have been completed between May 2007 and May 2008.

This year a new award has been added for best use of wood panel products.

Existing categories include commercial and public access, private, structural, conservation/restoration and furniture, while judges may also make discretionary awards for a small project, innovation, best use of British timber and offsite manufactured project.

The coveted Gold Award, won last year by Formby Pool in Lancashire, goes to the overall winner.

Entries must be received by May 21, with the shortlist to be announced and exhibited at 100% Detail at Earls Court in September and the winners will be unveiled at the Carpenter’s Hall in October.
