A European Wood Action Day was held in Brussels on March 27 to promote wood’s contribution in climate change mitigation.
The event was billed as a landmark in communicating the timber sector’s eco credentials with the European Parliament.
The event, held at the Club Royale des Officiers du Régiment des Guides, brought together speakers from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action, representatives of the European Economic and Social Committee, researchers, WWF and industry, including panel producer Sonae Indústria.
Small cubes of wood were given to all parliament members with a set of messages alluding to the catchphrase: “Tackle climate change: Use wood”.
