Wolseley UK has completed the second phase of its timber chain of custody certification programme.
The phase has seen the company’s chain of custody coverage grow from 5 to 20 Build Center branches. More than 1,500 products are now certified to either the Forest Stewardship Council or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes.
Build Center intends to extend certification to 40 of its branches by the end of 2005.
Wolsely UK manging director Adrian Barden said customers were coming under increasing pressure from environmental groups, government and their own clients to be environmentally responsible.
He said: “In order to achieve this they have a desire to work in partnership with suppliers, such as Build Center, that are serious about environmental issues.”
