Mumford & Wood Ltd has helped restore a 19th century building by supplying “sympathetic” sliding slash windows and French doorsets.

The building, set in the Peak District National Park near Bakewell in Derbyshire, has been restored to its original look after a year-long build programme, which included installing timber windows and doors.

Sash windows from Mumford & Wood’s Conservation Box range were chosen for the job and tailor-made to ensure the cords, weights and brass pulley wheels fitted the original openings.

“It was important to maintain the sightlines of the original windows; gone are the days when homeowners are content to fill an opening with an inappropriate PVCu frame,” said sales and marketing director Chris Wood.

“This is another example of a period property where double-glazed timber windows have been incorporated which have maintained the original sightlines.”

Mr Wood added that the building has a “timeless elegance” and “all the characteristic features of the buildings of the region”.
