Performance Window Group CEO Roy Wakeman outlined the energy savings achieved by modern timber windows during a forum at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre in Swindon.

Speaking at a forum on Adding Value to Your Property, Mr Wakeman said the Glass & Glazing Federation calculator showed that replacing a single-glazed aluminium window with a B energy-rated double-glazed timber window equated to an annual household fuel bill saving of £677, or £7,087 over 10 years.

The saving made on replacing a single-glazed timber window is £305 a year, or £3,200 over 10 years.

Mr Wakeman used the seminar to urge public landlords to replace old single-glazed systems with today’s high-performance and technical window systems.
