Just three years after starting to export to the UK, Belgium-based Willy Carpentier has seen a dramatic rise in sales.

Last year the company recorded sales of more than €800,000 and it intends to double that this year.

Now the company, which specialises in selling and processing a wide variety of hardwoods for applications such as flooring and furniture, is seeking an independent agent to develop the UK market.

General manager Heidi Carpentier explained: “Fifty to sixty percent of our turnover is export and our main markets are Holland, France and Germany but if we are to continue to grow, we need to look at new markets.”

The company has identified the UK as a target area and plans to embark on a strong marketing campaign to promote itself. Ms Carpentier said: “We believe in the personal approach, visiting clients on a regular basis, and we will also be advertising and taking part in exhibitions and fairs in the UK.”
