Housebuilder Wilson Connolly is to drive forward with its plans to build more timber frame houses and is targeting 90% of its output within two years.

In 2000 more than 40% of the units built by Wilcon were timber frame and this figure is expected to rise to 60% in 2001 and 90% by 2003.

The expression of confidence follows rumours that Persimmon, which is taking over housebuilder Beazer, may sell one of Beazer’s timber frame factories.

Wilson Connolly’s pre-tax profits jumped 18% to £71m for the year to December 2000 on sales up 22% to £78m.
