Every employee at Leicestershire-based hardwood producer Whitmore’s Timber Co Ltd has studied the company’s new environmental policy and signed their agreement to follow its principles.
Whitmore’s has now published its environmental policy for all activities within the company and copies are available to both customers and suppliers.
CEO and sales director David Elliott said: “The essence of this move is to ensure that all who buy from us, and those who sell to us, can be clear about our commitment to sustainable and legally produced hardwoods, and that we will protect the local environment to the best of our collective ability.”
Whitmore’s, which employs around 60 people, is investing in the installation of a new machine shop to improve the specification of its hardwood products for the furniture, joinery and construction industries.
