Independent index company the FTSE Group has listed Weyerhaeuser as a company meeting globally recognised corporate responsibility standards in its FTSE 4 Good Index.

To be included in the index, companies have to prove they are working towards environmental sustainability; developing positive relationships with stakeholders and supporting and upholding universal human rights.

Weyerhaeuser has developed a range of social and environmental programmes including detailed codes of conduct and ethical value projects, to the adoption of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards and independent forest certification, through to a strong commitment to health and safety.

In the UK, Weyerhaeuser’s Trus Joist has just produced a brochure detailing its specific environmental and corporate social responsibility policies tailored to its own operations, and Weyerhaeuser has published its “Roadmap for Sustainability Report”, available at www.weyerhaeuser.com/citizenship.
