Weyerhaeuser is to recruit more than 100 new workers in its US engineered wood plants following an improvement in the construction market.

Workers will be hired at the Natchitoches and Zwolle plants in Louisiana and Emerson, Arkansas.

“We are gearing up to ensure continuing product availability for our customers as demand for housing and light commercial construction recovers,” said Carlos Guilherme, vice president of engineered lumber products.

The Natchitoches plant manufactures TJI-joists and Microllam LVL, while the other two factories focus on veneer and plywood.

“We’re pleased to provide additional employment opportunities in Louisiana and Arkansas where we’ve had a strong forestry and manufacturing presence for many decades,” added Jan Mars, Weyerhaeuser engineered lumber products manufacturing manager.
