Weyerhaeuser is to close a particleboard plant and a corrugated sheet manufacturing facility.
The Lillie particleboard plant, Louisiana, will close by the end of the year with the loss of 127 jobs and a production capability of 119 million m2. The closure of the corrugated sheet facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma, leaves 25 people redundant.
Both operations were formerly operated by Willamette Industries, which Weyerhaeuser took over earlier this year.
The company said the closures would improve operating efficiency and help it compete in both the particleboard and corrugated sheet markets.
