Port Talbot-based Western Log Group (WLG) is expanding its timber division by opening a forest products terminal at the Port of Cardiff.

The move is being made in association with the shipping line Sea Logistics Ltd of Cardiff.

WLG managing director Rob James said the group is experiencing an increase in demand for its timber products from Estonia and Latvia.

He added: “Substantial volumes of CCA-treated round and saw fencing materials manufactured by our suppliers in the Baltic states can now be shipped regularly and on time to one destination using Sea Logistics excellent liner service into the Port of Cardiff.”

The new forest products terminal will serve the company’s Port Talbot manufacturing base and customers throughout the UK.
