The Western Australian government has expressed concern that A$15m of funding promised by the Commonwealth for the state’s timber industry has not yet been allocated.

The funding, which has not appeared in this year’s federal budget figures, was promised on the condition that the state government announced a sustainable timber allocation.

The federal government insists the money is available as long as the industry cuts at least 200,000m3 of jarrah. A cut of between 106,000-164,000m3 is being considered in the state’s draft forest management plan.
