Staff at national housebuilder Westbury plc, which has a modular timber frame home operation at Castle Bromwich, have rated the company as a first-class employer in a national survey.

The Sunday Times’ newspaper’s 2004 “Best Companies to Work For” guide put the Cheltenham-based firm as 74th on the list, up from 90th in 2002. Westbury was rated 81st in terms of job satisfaction, with 79% of employees saying their jobs are stimulating and never boring.

The guide, which lists the 100 best employers in Britain, ranks companies on the basis of employees’ views, pay and benefits, training, development and working practices.

Westbury was ineligible for inclusion in the list last year because of its acquisition of rival Prowting.
