The Timber Trade Federation‘s new Code of Conduct ranks among its most significant achievements, according to Wessex Timber Trade Association (WTTA) president Alan Goodger.

Speaking at the WTTA’s annual dinner in Bournemouth last week, Mr Goodger told the 144-strong audience that the trade as a whole should back the code.

‘I believe we should be 100% behind it,’ he said. ‘It is one of the most important things the Federation has done in years.’

Mr Goodger also addressed latest developments at his regional association, notably the restyling from Hants and Dorset TTA to Wessex in February this year. He acknowledged that the change had caused some debate, but said that the new name did have strong historical roots.

Among the guests was TTF president Philip Underwood. Referring to recent discussions over Forests Forever signatories becoming members of the Federation, he offered a toast to members of the TTF, TRADA and Forests Forever.

Guest speaker TTJ editor Mike Jeffree addressed the issues of communication and the timber trade, urging individual companies to capitalise on the impact of the wood. for good campaign with their own publicity and media initiatives.

A prize draw at the dinner raised £1,335 for the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society.
