More than a thousand visitors were drawn to this year’s West Wales Wood Fair at the National Trust‘s Dinefwr Park.

Visitors from across South and West Wales included professional growers, farmers interested in diversifying, those selling nursery stock and wood processing equipment and machinery, plus skilled craftsmen.

Working demonstrations included mobile bandsaws and portable mills, mechanical woodchippers, gate-making, willow work, carving and use of a basic lathe.

The mansion was used as an advice centre for 15 organisations and a trade fair for timber furniture, flooring supplies and crafts.

Seminars were given by the Forestry Commission (FC) and Welsh Timber Forum. Andy Best of the FC and Graham Robertson of the Countryside Council for Wales talked about the grant aid available for planting shelter belts and improving existing woodland.
