Weatherald Wood Components has won an important contract to supply some of the most complicated parts for Magnet Kitchens’ latest ranges.

Magnet will buy a range of around 30 units, including end-display cabinets, wine racks and other accessories, from the North Yorkshire company.

They will complement the mainstream cabinets and other elements of the range that Magnet produces at its own factories.

One of Weatherald Wood’s owners, Roy Fishwick, said: “Magnet’s strategy is to concentrate on mass production of standard units and when something more unusual is involved – often the extras which give a kitchen its distinctiveness – outsourcing to our specialised facility is the better solution.

“The secret is to ensure that what we make matches exactly with Magnet’s units, with precisely the same colouring and finish. And that involves working to very rigorous standards.

“We have made huge investments in equipment and plant over the past year to ensure we stay at the front of the pack, including a new CNC machining centre, which allows us to remove multiple production stages and become more efficient.”

The £170,000 investment has also included the construction of an 8,000ft2 storage facility for the machined goods.

Robin Cook of Magnet said it made commercial sense to leave production of the components to a company like Weatherald Wood which concentrates on making specialised items at a competitive price.

He added: “We sell our kitchens as high-quality products so we had to be careful when choosing a partner to work with us.Weatherald Wood is one of the few companies able to provide the service we need.”
