The Washington Environmental Council has filed a lawsuit against the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
The environmentalists say the state is breaking the law by extending a plan that guides logging practices without public comment and failing to adequately determine the overall effects of logging.
The DNR argues that the public did have an opportunity to comment and that it is doing a good job providing opportunities for logging on the state’s 2.1 million acres of public forest and protecting the environment.
