Forestry Commission Wales (FCW) has unveiled its plan to take education and learning forward in Wales’ woodlands over the next decade.

The FCW “Woodlands for Learning” team will organise visits to local woodlands linked to the National Curriculum, and deliver the Forest School approach acting as a facilitator through teacher support and through the Forest Education Initiative (FEI).

Forest education and health manager Sue Ginley said: “The woodlands in Wales offer first-hand opportunities for learning about natural and cultural heritage, environmental awareness, sustainable development and healthy lifestyles.

“The new strategy will be carried out by FCW’s Woodlands for Learning team, who are committed to maximising the use of woodlands for learning – a priority for action in the Welsh Assembly’s Woodland Strategy for Wales.”
