VIDA AB has acquired family sawmilling business Harry Nilsson in Hästveda to strengthen its position in the Dutch market.
The mill has a capacity of 100,000m³ and much of its construction timber output is shipped to the Netherlands.
Nilsson also has stakes in Scania Timber, which supplies it with about 90% of its raw material.
“We see this acquisition as an opportunity to strengthen us further in the Dutch market, while HN AB range complements our current portfolio,” said VIDA CEO Santhe Dahl.
“My daughters have been involved on the board for a long time, but have declined to take over,” said Nilsson owner Jorgen Nilsson.
“We have concluded that a sale is best for the company. VIDA has expressed an interest in the company for some time and I personally believe that VIDA is by far the most well-maintained and operated wood processing company in southern Sweden. So it was natural that they become the new owners.”
