Vida AB has become the biggest privately owned sawmilling group in Sweden with the acquisition of Anderssons Sågverk AB at Borgstena near Borås.
The acquisition includes Anderssons Sågverk’s subsidiary companies Borås Timber (UK) Ltd and Borås Timber AB.
The new group will employ 575 people and have a turnover of SKr1.75bn. Production and trading will increase to 850,000m3 per annum.
Vida says the acquisition will fit nicely with its business as Anderssons specialises in machine strength graded timber for the manufacture of roof trusses in the UK.
Svante Andersson remains as managing director at Anderssons Sågverk and will be given a seat on the board of the Vida group.
