US producers of mouldings and millwork are being forced to redefine their product mix to remain competitive, according to a new report.

“Clearwood (Pine), Lumber, Moulding & Millwork sector: Outlook to 2008” says domestic and off-shore companies are having to change their products and services due to supply outpacing demand.

The third edition report, written by RE Taylor & Associates Ltd and International Wood Markets Research Inc, says US consumption has more than doubled in the past decade, with imports of raw material and finished products taking a rapidly expanding share.

The publication, available in mid-December, provides market analysis of US end-use segments for appearance-grade clearwood.
