A competition for timber bridges has been reinstated in the US.
Bridges will be judged on their design innovation, cost- effectiveness and engineering. Categories include pedestrian/ light vehicular bridges, vehicular bridges spanning over and below 40ft, covered bridges and the refurbishment of existing bridges using timber.
Entries for the competition, sponsored by APA – the Engineered Wood Association, the American Institution of Timber Construction, the Federal Highway Administra-tion and the USDA Forest Service, must be be submitted by April 30.
