California, New Mexico and Oregon have filed a lawsuit against the US government for its recent repeal of the “roadless rule” which banned development in national forests.
Attorneys general in the three states said the government’s decision threatened some of the most pristine areas of America’s national forests.
The Bush administration’s repeal of the Clinton-era rule allows road-building, logging and other development on more than 144,000km2 of virgin forests.
