US exporters of southern yellow pine are working to re-establish trade with Libya following the end of sanctions first levelled almost 20 years ago.

The newsletter Random Lengths reported enquiries had already been received for southern yellow pine, which is considered conducive to the dry climate and could be used for staircases, flooring and door and window frames.

However, Scandinavian producers have developed solid relationships in the region and direct shipping routes from the US are prohibitively expensive or not yet available.
