Jeld-Wen, the US-based owner of the Boulton & Paul and John Carr joinery operations, has launched its American-made aluminium clad timber windows in the UK.
The windows are manufactured by Jeld-Wen’s subsidiary Norco and the company says it is the first time such products have been made available nationwide in the UK from a major supplier.
A spokesperson for Jeld-Wen UK Ltd said that the company is hoping the windows mirror the success they’ve achieved in the US, where they are installed in over a million houses.
“We expect high demand, not just because these windows are unique in the UK, but also because they offer a third option in addition to the timber or PVCu choice.”
The Norco windows are billed as complying with Part L, are double-glazed and use stained, varnished or painted softwood for the interior joinery. All the external joinery surfaces are aluminum clad.
“Aluminium cladding combines the appeal of traditional wood with modern weather-proofing technology,” said Jeld-Wen project manger Tony Pell. “We’re sure they’re going to be very popular here where the changeable weather is even more of an issue than in the US.”
Jeld-Wen did not divulge actual prices, but said that the windows were “very competitive for their specification”.
