UPM has won a “web Oscar” for its interactive online forest experience.
The company’s www.upmforestlife.com site, which allows visitors to take a virtual walk through the company’s forests, won the corporate communications category in the Webby Awards.
The Webby Awards are billed as the leading international awards for the internet, with nearly 10,000 entries from more than 60 countries.
“We are not able to take all our customers and stakeholders to the forest to see how UPM operates or to show all the forest wildlife,” said Päivi Salpakivi-Salomaa, UPM’s director of environmental forestry affairs. “Using the versatile modern technology, we decided to bring the forest to their laptops. We are very pleased about this recognition from web industry professionals.”
Webby Awards winners will be honoured at an event in New York on June 10.
