The new UPM Living products range will be showcased for the first time at the Helsinki Fair Centre on September 14.
Products include UPM Grada formable plywood, aimed at the furniture manufacturing sector.
A special feature of the formable plywood is a special adhesive film which allows the plywood to be formed after manufacturing.
UPM said the adhesive film creates a unique chemical bond with the wood, enabling the manufacture of bent wooden structures by heating, forming and then cooling of the plywood.
“The Tupa project conducted in co-operation with the Aalto University Design Fcatory utilizes the material to manufacture a maternity package,” said UPM.
“The layette box, which is made of UPM Grada plywood, can be used as the baby’s first bed and later as a table and chairs or event as a toy.”
