A 2,000m2 greenhouse is being constructed at the company’s Joroinen nursery in Finland and is expected to be completed next spring. The nursery’s outdoor area is also being expanded.

The improvements will increase nursery production to 13 million seedlings a year, which will be used to regenerate about 7,000ha of forestland.

“We especially want to develop the seedling production and the cultivation of spruce as UPM uses a lot of spruce,” said nursery manager Anne Immonen.

“Spruce is the species that grows well in the fresh and fertile land of Finland.”
