The new company, Silvesta, will provide forestry services to UPM‘s 920,000ha of forestry land in Finland.

“Managing these forests will require an increasing amount of forestry work in the coming years,” said Sixten Sunabacka, vice-president of UPM Forestry and wood sourcing in Finland.

“We will engage in closer co-operation with various forestry service companies and procure more services for them.”

UPM has agreed with its forestry workers that they will transfer to Silvesta’s payroll from May 1.
