A Malaysian university has teamed up with a timber firm to boost wood technology and develop new products.

The Memorandum of Understanding between Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Kilang Papan Mohamed Yusof dan Anak-Anak Sdn Bhd (KPMYSB) will see UiTM organise conferences and come up with creative ideas on new wood products.

The university will provide KPMYSB with consultancy services, including research and testing, as well conducting courses for the company’s workers.

In return, KPMYSB will give UiTM civil engineering students training at its sawmill.

The company produces sawn timber, prefabricated timber roof truss systems, flooring, wall panelling and garden furniture.
