The University of Wales, Bangor will launch its distance learning MSc in Forestry Industries Technology in September.
Course co-ordinator Sue Griffiths said: ‘We have already had considerable interest in the course and are now at a stage where we have some material, such as course structure booklets, to mail out to anyone contacting us.’
The newly validated course is designed to develop and extend knowledge of the management of the forest resource and the technologies associated with timber processing and use.
It is primarily aimed at forest products industries employees who can undertake an MSc course while remaining in full-time employment.
The main objectives are to provide an understanding of the science of wood as a material; introduce the principal technologies of converting and using wood as an industrial material; and provide an understanding of the commercial and economic aspects of the forest industries.
