The timber committee of the UN/ECE held its 59th annual meeting in Geneva last week.
Paul Martin, director-general of the Timber Trade Federation, represented the British timber trade and David Venables, European director of the American Hardwood Export Council, joined the delegation from the US.
A new Team of Specialists on Forest Products Markets and Marketing elected Dr Chris Gaston from Canada as leader and Michael Buckley from the UK as deputy leader. The team will advise the committee on a range of market issues and projects over the next two years.
