The funds have been used to finance a new 6,000m2 engineered timber floor facility, new machinery and 80 new staff.

The new facility houses a semi-automated engineered line which cuts, assembles, sands, finishes and packages the company’s engineered floor products. The expansion will increase production by 15%.

It also manufactures a new product for the company – engineered oak worktops. Full production capacity for this product will be 1.35 million m2 per year and a global retailer has come on board to sell it.

The latest expansion means the factory has now grown to 20,000m2.

"It has taken us three years to plan, develop and build the new facility," said Peter Keane, director of the Natural Wood Flooring Company.

He said the expansion meant the company could keep up with demand for engineered flooring and increase product ranges.

"The move into manufacturing the engineered oak worktop is a natural progression for the company, given our level of expertise and knowledge in this area. With a global retail outlet already onboard, we will now be looking for other distribution channels for this exciting product," he said.

Other company plans include developing furniture and other lifesyle products using the engineered timber technology.
