The Commission says that total woodland is 2.74 million ha. New woodland created in 2005-06 amounted to 8,000ha, most of which represented broadleaved species planting. About 14,000ha were replanted, mostly with conifers.
The FC also calculates that 43% or around 1.18 million ha of forests are now environmentally certified.
