UK customers of Intertimber Ltd have taken a tour of the Herman Keller sawmill to see the latest investments at the site.
The Monmouth-based agent led a group of seven UK companies to the sawmill in Achern-Oberachern, Germany, where €10m-worth of investments have included doubling its kilning capacity, purchasing additional land for storage and installing a new circular saw.
“It was an excellent trip and our customers were very impressed with the new investments,” said Intertimber director Nigel Winter.
Mr Winter added that future developments at the Keller sawmill are to include installing a new automated grading line and increasing the amount of railway sidings to remove delivery vehicles from local roads.
